Created for the holiday season, Very Merry brings together two single-estate lots — a natural Mundo Novo from Barrinha Farm in Mogiana, Brazil, and a natural Catimor from Tianhao Estate in Yunnan, China. The result is a smooth and velvety cup that calls to mind Irish cream, chocolate truffles and cherry — something to linger over as the lights twinkle and the nights draw in.
This coffee comes from Tianhao Estate, nestled in the mountains of Lancang County in southwestern Yunnan. Founded by Ms Wei Yunhua in 2007, the Estate has grown considerably in the ensuing decades — now providing more than 200 jobs to the local community, and housing its own processing facility so that the team can manage every stage of production.
Grown at elevations of 1,600–1,800 MASL, the cherries underwent what our importer, YD Selects, describes as a “red natural” process — designed to take advantage of the region’s exceptionally high sugar and pectin content. The result is a boozy cup that contributes notes of spiced rum and black cherry to the blend.
This coffee comes from the Brazilian importing company, Bossa, co-founded by Bruna Costa and Emma Wallace. It was produced on Fazenda Barrinha, which can be found just outside the town of Pinhal, in Mogiana, southern Brazil. The farm is owned by Bruna’s parents, Armando and Andrea Costa, where they cultivate Mundo Novo, alongside a variety of fruit and vegetables, lavender and native vegetation. This component mellows out the Very Merry blend, providing notes of milk chocolate and hazelnuts.
